SaySo Community Guidelines
Jan 9, 2026
Our Purpose
At SaySo, we believe news should be informative, intentional, and human. We're building a space where vetted creators and engaged audiences can share ideas, report on the world, and have thoughtful conversations — without the chaos, harassment, or misinformation that dominate many online platforms.
These Community Guidelines are here to encourage free expression, while helping keep everyone safe, respected, and informed. They explain what's allowed on SaySo, what's not, and how we approach enforcement.
As outlined in our Terms of Service, these Guidelines are part of your agreement with SaySo. By using the platform, you agree to follow them. Please also make sure you're legally eligible to use SaySo based on your local laws.
A Note About Serious Harm
While we review all violations of our Community Guidelines, we take extra care with content or behavior that poses a risk of serious harm — including threats of violence, sexual exploitation of minors, terrorism, and severe harassment.
Accounts engaged in this type of behavior may be removed immediately and permanently, and in some cases we may report activity to relevant authorities.
These Guidelines apply to:
- All users and creators.
- All content, including usernames, profiles, posts, captions, comments, messages, images, video, audio, links, emojis, and AI-generated content.
- All behavior on SaySo, both public and private, including direct messages.
Creators who publish content on SaySo are held to higher editorial and conduct standards, given their role in shaping public understanding and discourse.
News, Context, and Editorial Judgment
SaySo is a news-focused platform. That means:
- Reporting on difficult or sensitive topics may be allowed when it serves a clear journalistic purpose.
- Context matters — especially when content involves violence, extremism, hate speech, or misinformation.
- Content that would otherwise be restricted may be permitted for news reporting, analysis, or condemnation, as long as it does not promote harm.
We consider intent, framing, and impact when enforcing these rules.
Using AI on SaySo
SaySo may support AI-generated or AI-assisted content. If you use AI, you must do so responsibly:
- Do not present synthetic or manipulated media as real.
- Clearly label AI-generated content where required.
- Do not use AI to deceive, harass, impersonate, or spread false information.
Using AI to violate these Guidelines may result in enforcement action.
What's Not Allowed on SaySo
Below are the main categories of content and behavior that are prohibited on the platform.
Child Safety (Zero Tolerance)
We do not allow any content that exploits or endangers children. This includes:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- Grooming, sexualization of minors, or sexual extortion.
- Requests for or sharing of sexual images involving anyone under 18 (including yourself).
Any identified activity of this nature may be reported to authorities.
Sexual Content & Exploitation
SaySo is not a platform for pornography or sexual solicitation. We prohibit:
- Pornographic or explicit sexual content.
- Sexual solicitation, including offers for sexual services.
- Sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent (revenge porn).
Non-sexual nudity may be allowed in news, medical, educational, or artistic contexts, such as breastfeeding or protest imagery.
Violence & Physical Harm
We do not allow content that encourages or glorifies violence. This includes:
- Threats of violence toward individuals or groups.
- Graphic or gory depictions of injury or death.
- Celebrating or justifying violent acts.
News reporting on violence may be allowed when it is newsworthy, factual, and handled with care, including warnings or sensitivity labels.
Suicide, Self-Harm & Eating Disorders
We prohibit content that:
- Promotes or glorifies suicide, self-harm, or disordered eating and food deprivation.
- Provides instructions or encouragement for these behaviors.
We do allow:
- Recovery stories.
- Help-seeking content.
- Educational or journalistic coverage with appropriate care.
If you or someone you know is struggling with such issues, we encourage reaching out to professional support resources.
Hate, Extremism & Terrorism
There is no place on SaySo for hate or violent extremism. We prohibit:
- Terrorist organizations or violent extremist groups using the platform.
- Praise, support, or recruitment for extremist causes.
- Hate speech targeting people based on protected characteristics such as race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or similar traits.
- Calls for discrimination or removal of civil rights.
News reporting on hate or extremism is allowed only when it clearly condemns or contextualizes it.
Harassment & Bullying
SaySo should be a place for debate — not abuse. We prohibit:
- Threats, intimidation, or targeted harassment.
- Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual comments.
- Coordinated attacks or "dogpiling".
- Doxxing or sharing private information without consent.
If someone blocks you, do not attempt to contact them from another account. The challenging of ideas is welcome, attacks on people are not.
Privacy & Personal Information
Respect people's privacy. Do not:
- Share private addresses, phone numbers, financial details, IDs, or any other personally identifying information.
- Share images of people in private spaces without consent.
- Post intimate images without permission.
If someone asks you to remove content involving them, please do so.
Intellectual Property
Only post content you own or have the right to share. Do not upload copyrighted articles, videos, images, or other media without permission, unless permitted by law.
Illegal Activity & Regulated Goods
Do not use SaySo to promote or facilitate illegal activity. This includes:
- Buying, selling, or promoting illegal drugs or weapons.
- Fraud, financial scams, or illegal betting.
- Human trafficking or exploitation.
- Unauthorized promotion of regulated products (e.g., gambling, tobacco, alcohol).
Misinformation & Deception
We prohibit spreading false or misleading information that can cause harm. This includes:
- False claims about elections, public health, or emergencies.
- Manipulated or AI-generated media presented as being real.
- Denial or distortion of well-documented historical events or facts.
- Conspiracy theories presented as fact.
Debate and analysis are welcome — deception is not.
Impersonation, Spam & Platform Abuse
Do not:
- Pretend to be someone you're not (including journalists, public figures, or brands).
- Create fake or automated accounts to manipulate engagement.
- Post spam, undisclosed ads, or follower-growth schemes.
- Abuse SaySo's reporting tools (including in-app reporting features) to harass others, submit knowingly false reports, or coordinate efforts to silence or target a creator or user.
Advertising, Sponsorships & Commercial Content
Transparency matters on SaySo. Creators must clearly disclose when content is sponsored, paid for, or includes affiliate links. Undisclosed advertising, misleading promotions, or deceptive commercial claims are not allowed.
This includes presenting paid endorsements as independent reporting or analysis.
What Happens If These Rules Are Broken
Depending on the severity and pattern of behavior, we may:
- Remove content.
- Issue warnings.
- Temporarily suspend features or accounts.
- Permanently remove accounts.
- Notify authorities when required for safety.
We aim to apply these rules consistently and fairly, while protecting freedom of expression and public interest reporting.
Reporting Content and Appeals
If you see content or behavior that you believe violates these Guidelines, please report it using our in-app reporting tools. Reports help us review issues quickly and keep the community safe.
If your content or account is affected by an enforcement decision and you believe we made a mistake, you may submit an appeal via email. We review appeals carefully and aim to apply these rules fairly and consistently.
Our Commitment
Our goal isn't just to enforce rules — it's to build a platform where:
- Creators can report and express themselves responsibly
- Audiences can engage without fear or abuse
- News is shared with care, context, and credibility
Thank you for helping make SaySo a thoughtful place to learn about the world.
